About Jenny
My love for storytelling goes all the way back to family dinnertime when I was a kid. A well-told story, complete with voices and affects, was highly praised at our table. Laughter, though, was the highest honor. In my house, if you could keep everyone engaged and deliver the punchline, you were the hero! For a long time, I thought all families sat around doing silly voices and accents. Turns out I'm luckier than I realized at the time.
When, eventually, sharpening my storytelling craft at home wasn't enough, I went on to study acting, singing, and voice-acting. I took to the stage in musical theater, and sang in choruses, ensembles and voice juries. For a few years, I landed in a recording studio doing any female voice work that came along: jingles, back-up, VO.
After years of trying to figure out the perfect outlet for my voice, I finally took up VO in earnest and it led me back to my first love. Many, many years of reading to my children honed my skills ("Do all the voices, Mommy!!") and re-ignited my passion for the art of storytelling. Together we have read silly stories, adventure stories, sad stories, I-need-a-prozac-nightcap super-sad stories, you name it. It was worth all the tear-soaked readings of books where the dog dies (the dog always dies!) to see their eyes, brains, and hearts open up to the wonder of books. When that creative path came to its inevitable end (they just keep growing, and learning how to read on their own, and stuff!), I started pursuing audiobook narration and haven't looked back. I just love character creation and keeping track of all the personalities and their unique voices! Finding the humor and the humanity in the script and delivering it up for the listener is the most fun I've ever had in a 3x3 room alone. I hope you like listening to my work as much I like recording it.
Oh, and when I get bored and need a rush, I like to sing with my band, My Morning Drop-off and my all-woman a cappella group, The Violet Femmes.
